I am amazed by what inspires people to run. Some people do just because they need the exercise but there are many out there that have started to accomplish a goal. My inspiration for running however, came from another passion of mine, the best place on the Earth, Disney!!! I signed up for my first half marathon for the opportunity to tackle two things on my bucket list finally get my ass to Disney and run a half marathon. It seemed like a win win situation.
I completed the Princess Half Marathon at Walt Disney World, February 2013. I have to say Disney knows how to entertain their runners. And for the amount of money people dish out for those races, they should! My second Disney half marathon took place this past January in California at Disneyland. Two things about this race: 1. it was Tinkerbell themed and I am pretty obsessed with her (I told you I am a Disney freak!) and 2. it took place in California at Disneyland. I don't think the second one needs an explanation but I absolutely love California, coming from the North East, California is like a different world. Its absolutely gorgeous and the people are so laid back I would go there again any time! This time I did a 10k and a Half Marathon back to back, which wasn't as hard as it may sound. I had fun running with friends and taking pictures along the way.
When you do one race in Disneyland and one race in Disney World in one calendar year, you get to participate in Disney's Coast to Coast challenge, aka you get more bling bling or as normal people call another racing metal for your accomplishment. I set my goal for 2014 to get this medal. With already completing one race in Disneyland, I only had to complete one more in Disney World to get the medal. Which brings me to the headline of this blog post: Wine & Dine.
Wine & Dine is a half marathon that takes place in November at Disney World, part of Disney's Wine and Food Festival. Wine, Food, Disney and running? Anyone who doesn't love all four would be a fool not to go! I am so excited to go back to Disney World again, because not only is it the greatest place in the world, I am also going with some of my favorite people. First all the girls that did Princess Half Marathon (there was 7 of us) had the opportunity to do this race and reunite again! Which is a big deal since we all have big people jobs and lives so it was hard to make it work for a second time. Second my boyfriend was crazy enough to decide to come down with me. If he already thinks I'm bad with Disney try x that by 6. Oh well, I will also be forcing him on many rides with me, I can't wait!!!
As you can see I have a count down clock on the right, ticking away counting down the seconds until the race. I am so thrilled to not only go but do another half, because there is nothing like finishing a race and accomplishing something as big as a half marathon. And not only will I get one awesome medal, I will be getting two! I am truly thrilled with this opportunity I opened for myself and I wouldn't be going at all with out my friends and boyfriend to support me. Less than 150 days, tick tick tick.
